We live in a fast paced, stress filled world. Our lives are occupied with work and families, duties and responsibilities. Yet, every so often we need a break; a mini-vacation to help relieve the tension. Many individuals who spin, weave or do other fiber related crafts, report that it is very soothing to their frazzled nerves – much like meditation only with something to use, wear or give as a gift when you are finished.

It is interesting that spinning and many types of weaving can be done anywhere or anytime. Monetary investment can be very little or a lot - It is all up to you and the results you hope to accomplish. Fiber work also appeals to all sorts of people regardless of background, gender, station in life and skill levels. (After all, we were all beginners at sometime!) Interests vary as to technique and end results across the fiber community. So much so, that some spinners just spin yarn for the shear pleasure of spinning, never to knit, crochet or weave it. Some weavers create heirlooms for family and friends while others make a living at their looms; still others share their joy of fiber by teaching. It all makes for an interesting mix.
